Things have been spinning out of control of late. Some have lost jobs, marriages/relationships have been tested, students are frustrated, jobs shut down. We all share a common suffering, with some experiencing more hardships than the rest of us.
Before I begin sharing some of the most comforting scriptures I have ever seen from the bible, I would like to remind all of us of the time when Jesus calmed the storm (Matthew 8:23-27). The disciples woke Jesus up in distress and told him, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus replied to them and said, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”
There is a hymn in Kiswahili language that’s based on this scripture. The singers say, “If the raging seas, the thundering heavens, and the furious winds obeyed him. If demons would flee from him. Then what of your troubles? In time, things will calm…so calm down.”
This hymn has been very comforting for me when I have felt like everything is out of control.
Aside from worship songs/hymns, here are 10 soothing scriptures that you can meditate upon when you feel like things are spinning out of control.

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly. (Psalms 52:8-9)
